Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, we are accepting new patients. Please » contact our office to setup an appointment and/or ask any additional questions you may have.

Why did we change to a fee for service practice?

We strongly believe in the importance of spending adequate time with you to fully evaluate your health and well-being; and that physical ailments are not just purely physical, but instead involve the whole body/mind. This means that taking a “holistic” history (body, mind, spirit, lifestyle choices, etc.) is key to finding a solution. Working together towards a holistic treatment strategy involves considerable trust – something that grows over time. New homeopathic evaluations take at least 90 minutes to obtain the needed information, while insurance companies typically are only willing to pay for 10-20 minute appointments.

One other major difference between our philosophy and that of insurance companies, is my belief in prevention and wellness. Insurance companies are clear that they will only pay for treatment of disease, not for prevention or wellness.

Fees and Insurance

Fees are based on the level of training and the extent of care provided. Homeopathic remedies are included. Many services may be reimbursable through insurance. We do not, however, participate directly with insurance companies. The hourly rate is set at $150.  A new visit (up to 2 hours) is $300.  We are willing to offer discounts to those of you with significant financial needs or problems with insurance reimbursement.  Please don’t hesitate to » call or email to discuss these issues or with questions about our fee-for-service practice.

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy cures a larger percentage of cases than any other method of treatment.” Mahatma Gandhi

Homeopathy is a scientific medical practice that treats persons, not diseases. It is based on the principle that the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, is affected when the person is sick. It is this whole individual that homeopathy seeks to cure, rather than eliminating one or two symptoms. Homeopathy is non-toxic and highly effective.

Homeopathy is widely accepted in other countries. It is widespread throughout Europe, especially Great Britain, Germany and Italy, also in Central and South America, India, and Africa. Homeopathy is experiencing a resurgence in the US and Canada as part of a focus on integrative medicine.

Symptoms are a sign of the healing response in an organism. The homeopathic physician attempts to find the remedy, which most closely matches, or resonates with, the totality of physical and emotional symptoms related by the patient. In this fashion, acute and chronic illness can be treated. The homeopathic remedy chosen will ideally stimulate healing forces within an individual, much like chi is stimulated by the use of traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. Homeopathy can also be very useful in preventing disease by enhancing the overall well-being and vitality of a healthy person.

Homeopathic medicines are made from plants, minerals, earth salts, and animal tissues – there are currently well over 3000 remedies, with new ones being studied and made on a regular basis. Remedies are all prepared in FDA-approved pharmacies and are serially diluted and shaken (potentized). Interestingly, because of this method of preparing remedies, there remain no molecules of the original substance in the final remedy product. Despite this, remedies are viewed as more potent, or powerful, the more dilute they are. This remains a paradox, making homeopathy difficult to understand for many in western societies. Yet they are quite effective – the correctly chosen remedy will be curative for many ailments, including asthma, arthritis, some cancers, depression and anxiety, ear infections, stomach and bowel ailments – really just about any condition can be cured using homeopathy. And it is quite gentle, causing no side effects if prescribed by a trained practitioner.
